The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Edward B. Giller (ASN: 0-659459), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States,. General Giller distinguished himself as Assistant General Manager for Military Application, United States Atomic Energy Commission, from 1 July 1967 to 30 June 1972. During this period, General Giller’s outstanding achievements and his dynamic leadership and initiative permitted the United States to maintain world leadership in nuclear weapon technology, and to stockpile modern, safe and reliable nuclear bombs and warheads, thereby continuing to sustain the credibility of the deterrent forces of the United States. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Giller culminate a long and distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
