The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class James T. Donahue (ASN: 32269087), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with Company *, ** Tank Destroyer Battalion, in action near ***, Tunisia, on ** March 1943. During an intense artillery bombardment, Private First Class Donahue, on his own initiative, left cover to render first aid to two enlisted men who were injured when an American ambulance was disabled by artillery fire. By his courage, Private First Class Donahue helped saved the lives of these two men. His conduct on this occasion is in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
