Completely disregarding his own safety, First Lieutenant Asahina went to the aid of many who lay helpless on the fire swept field. Ignoring heavy barrages of enemy artillery, he continued his hazardous task, often giving extensive treatment and blood transfusions in the most unsheltered positions. Concerned only with alleviating the suffering of the wounded and evacuating them to the safety, First Lieutenant Asahina repeatedly risked his life on behalf of the men in his squadron. By his outstanding gallantry and magnificent devotion to duty, First Lieutenant Asahina undoubtedly saved the lives of many of his critically wounded comrades and won for himself the unrestrained admiration of the entire squadron. First Lieutenant Asahina’s gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 7th Armored Division, and the United States Army.
