The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade [then Private] Frank J. Arrison, Sr. (ASN: 33844827), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the Corps of Engineers of the Seventh Armored Division, in action on 29 and 30 November 1944, in the vicinity of Lindern, Germany. Volunteering t o operate a mine detector in breaching a gap in an AT ditch protecting the approaches to Lindern, Technician Fifth Grade Arrison moved forward under heavy concentrations of enemy artillery and small arms fire. With complete disregard for personal safety, he unhesitatingly continued on his dangerous mission. Only when the safe route had been opened and our armor was streaming through to the attack did he leave his hazardous post. Technician Fifth Grade Arrison’s courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 7th Armored Division, and the United States Army.
