The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Field Artillery) Robert P. Andrews (ASN: 0-535025), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 8th Armored Division in Germany on 5 April 1945. Lieutenant Andrews, while serving as observer for an artillery unit, continued his mission under intense anti-aircraft fire. Upon completion of this mission he again returned to the same area to register artillery fire preventing an anticipated counterattack. His actions, without regard for his own safety, reflect great credit on himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
