The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit to Major General Andrew Julius Evans, Jr. (AFSN: FR-4072/0-23882), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commander, United States Air Force Tactical Air Warfare Center, Tactical Air Command, from 30 July 1968 to 25 September 1970. During this period, General Evans’ professional leadership, skill, outstanding management, and exemplary foresight contributed significantly to the accomplishment of the mission of the United States Air Force Tactical Air Warfare Center and enhancement of worldwide tactical air capabilities. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Evans reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
