On that date, Major Vissotzky was a member of a flight of F-105’s ordered to attack and destroy a high priority military target. Despite adverse weather, intense antiaircraft fire, and hostile aircraft, Major Vissotzky maintained flight integrity and personally destroyed an entrenched anti-aircraft gun emplacement.
