The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel of Engineers Antoine P. Godefroy, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Chief of the French Mission attached to Base Section No. 6, American Expeditionary Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Godefroy rendered invaluable assistance in the development of Marseille as an American base port. He displayed tact, energy, and foresight in a position of great responsibility, and his assistance aided markedly in the prompt forwarding of supplies to the troops operating in the advanced zones.
