The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major De La Ferronays, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Personal Liaison Officer between the French Minister of War and the American Commander in Chief, Major De La Ferronays showed great tact and energy in the performance of his duties. He rendered service of exceptional value to the American Expeditionary Forces, laboring incessantly for the common cause, and doing much to promote the cordial relations between the French and American authorities.
