The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel of Infantry Marie J. de Beaumont, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Chief of the French Mission at Headquarters of Base Section No. 1, American Expeditionary Forces, Colonel de Beaumont discharged his duties with tact, zeal, and distinguished ability. He contributed very largely by his personal efforts to creating conditions which made it possible for Base Section No. 1 to maintain a steady flow of supplies to the American troops.
