The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Cavalry) George P. Tyner, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Colonel Tyner served first as Assistant G-4 of the 1st Army and later as G-4 of the 2d Army. He rendered devoted, skillful, and efficient service in the supply of the 1st and 2d Armies during the St. Mihiel offensive in the Forest of Argonne and in the Woevre. His painstaking and tireless energy contributed materially to the success of these operations.
