The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Medical Corps) Henry A. Shaw, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I, as Surgeon of Base Section No. 2, Services of Supply, a position of great responsibility. Due to his ability and energy, Colonel Shaw brought the medical service of the Port of Bordeaux and the hospitalization of the same to a high degree of efficiency. He has rendered services of much value.
