The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Transportation Corps) Orrin David Miller, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Executive Officer of the Army Transportation Service, a position of great responsibility, throughout the whole period of existence of the service, by his untiring devotion to duty, loyalty, and marked ability, Lieutenant Colonel Miller proved a material factor in the success of the operation of the Army Transportation Service.
