The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Jefferson L. Holt (ASN: 5890), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Medical Detachment, 2d Engineers (Attached), 2d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the day and night of June 2 – 3, 1918. Private Holt exposed himself to severe and continuous fire beyond call of duty in order to bring aid to wounded engineers and marines.
