The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Commander John Norwood Ferguson, United States Navy, for distinguished service in the line of his profession as Commanding Officer of the Naval Ammunition Depot at Iona Island, where, due to his able administration, the facilities were increased and operated so that ammunition was supplied promptly, in spite of the enormous demand made upon it. A depth charge loading plant was established, which loaded most of the depth charges used by our naval forces during World War I.
