The Secretary of the Navy takes pleasure in transmitting to Captain John Twiggs Myers, United States Marine Corps, the Brevet Medal which is awarded in accordance with Marine Corps Order No. 26 (1921), for distinguished conduct in the presence of the enemy at the defense of the legations at Peking, China, on 20 July 1900. On 28 March 1901, Captain Myers is appointed Major, by brevet, to take rank from 20 July 1900.
