    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Captain (Corps of Engineers) Woodrow Wilson Pratt (ASN: 0-25485), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Commanding Officer of the Company A, 309th Engineer Combat Battalion, 84th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Holland, on 19 November 1944. During the Division’s drive from Heerlen, Holland, to the Roer River, Captain Pratt led two platoons in action against the enemy. He removed mines by hand in front of tanks during the attack, ad removed the demolitions from an important bridge under fire, and together with another officer and two enlisted men, captured forty-seven Germans. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Pratt, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
