The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class James R. Jimison (ASN: 35735215), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 20 February 1945, in Germany. Hearing a wounded man call for help while his unit was engaged in action against the enemy. Private First Class Jimison courageously left his sheltered position and advanced through heavy mortar and artillery fire to the wounded man’s assistance. After administering first aid and placing the man in a sheltered position, he returned to obtain the assistance of a companion and evacuated the casualty. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Jimison, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
