The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Cavalry) Thomas C. Harvey (ASN: 0-505446), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 30th Reconnaissance Troop (Mechanized), 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 13 April 1945, in Germany. First Lieutenant Harvey on a mission of leading the infantry to an attack was wounded by shrapnel. Taking no heed of his wounds, he proceeded on and captured, killed, and routed the enemy. The skill, courage, and loyal devotion to duty displayed by First Lieutenant Harvey reflects great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
