All the wounded were removed from the field to this emergency aid stat ion at dark, and Private Bickwormer, with the assistance of other men of his detachment, administered to the wounded all through the night. He then accompanied his unit in the attack the following morning. Private Bickwormer’s coolness under heavy enemy fire, his foresight, alertness, technical efficiency, and intense devotion to duty , as a result of which the lives of many comrades were saved, reflect the highest credit upon his character and training as a soldier, and is in keeping with the Armed Forces of the United States.
