(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to First Lieutenant (Infantry) William B. Aycock, United States Army, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy of the United States while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action at Nettuno, Italy, on 9 May 1944. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by Lieutenant Aycock reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
