(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Technician Fifth Grade Forest M. Andrews, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as a Medical Aidman attached to an infantry company of the 41st Infantry Division during World War II. Learning that one of the soldiers had been seriously wounded by enemy fire, Technician Fifth Grade Andrews moved forward to rescue him, although he had been warned that the area was being swept by Japanese mortar and rifle fire. He crawled more than 100 yards across the area exposed to enemy fire with no cover to protect him and on reaching the wounded man, dragged him back to safety and there attended his wounds. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
