Headquarters, 2d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 154 (June 15, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant (Armor), [then Sergeant First Class] Emilio Stasi (ASN: 0-2262053), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity as a member of Tank Company, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 27 September 1950, in the vicinity of Samga, Korea. On that date, he was Gunner on a tank which was leading a tank platoon in direct support of an attack by two infantry battalions. When the platoon leader was wounded and evacuated, Lieutenant Stasi immediately assumed command of the platoon and led it in an attack upon the enemy positions. Throughout the engagement he manned his 76-mm. gun with amazing results. After exhausting the ammunition supply for this gun, he manned the machine gun located on the turret of the tank, delivering effective fire upon enemy positions. He was directly responsible for the destruction of several enemy machine gun positions and numerous enemy riflemen, which contributed materially to the success of the attack. The devotion to duty and outstanding courage displayed by Lieutenant Stasi reflect great credit on himself and the military service.
