Headquarters, 2d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 834 (December 8, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Robert F. Scott (ASN: ER-35126589), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 28 July 1951 in the vicinity of Taeusan, Korea. On that date, during an attack on a strategic enemy-held hill, Corporal Scott, a radio operator, relayed vital messages regarding the tactical situation to the various leaders of the unit. He constantly remained exposed to the intense hostile fire and in addition to his duties as an operator, he carried vitally needed ammunition to the most forward positions of his company. On his return trips he evacuated the seriously wounded men to positions of safety. Although painfully wounded he continued in these heroic deeds until he was forced to be evacuated. His initiative and selfless devotion to duty were an inspiration to his comrades and were of great aid to his unit in the successful completion of its assigned mission. The gallantry in action displayed by Corporal Scott on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
