(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Major George Schatz, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in connection with military operations against the enemy while serving with the 1st Battalion, 164th Infantry Regiment, 23d Infantry Division (Americal), in action at Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands. Major Shatz drove a jeep into the face of enemy fire to rescue and give aid to three seriously wounded soldiers, saving their lives.
