The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Sergeant [then Sergeant First Class] John Al Ross, United States Army, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force while serving with Company I, 3d Battalion, 187th Regimental Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division, in action near Inje, North Korea, on 28 May 1951. His actions, without regard for his own safety, reflect great credit on himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
