The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Lynn E. Robertson (ASN: RA-19411862), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company I, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 8 September 1951 in the vicinity of Kullyong-kogae, Korea. On this date, during an attack on vital enemy-held positions, Company I was pinned down by a heavy concentration of hostile mortar, automatic weapons, and small arms fire. Corporal Robertson, with utter disregard for his own safety, advanced over the fire-swept area to an advantageous position. From this point, while exposed to heavy hostile fire, he neutralized an enemy bunker which was greatly hampering his unit’s advance. Through his courageous action, friendly forces were able to advance and secure the objective with a minimum of casualties. The gallantry in action and devotion to duty displayed by Corporal Robertson on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
