(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class John Edwin Lutze (ASN: US-54981165), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Private First Class Lutze distinguished himself by intrepid actions on 8 November 1968 while serving with Company D, 2d Battalion, 22d Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. His unquestionable valor in close combat is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 25th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
