Major Klimow distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as S-3 (Operations Officer) for the 3d Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 2d Armored Division, attached to the I Marine Expeditionary Force, in action against an armed enemy in Kuwait, in support of Operation DESERT STORM from 24 to 28 February 1991. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major Klimow, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
