Paul Jones graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1935. Captured after the fall of the Philippine Islands, he died in 1944 when the “Hell Ship” on which he was being transported to Japan as a Prisoner of War was sunk by an American submarine.

The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major Jones, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
