The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Sergeant [then Corporal] Adam B. Gregoire (ASN: ER-38373112), United States Army, for heroic achievement during ground operations against a hostile force as a member of Company E, 2d Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 22 April 1951, near Kusoktong, Korea, an outpost position, of which Sergeant Gregoire was Squad Leader, became subjected to heavy enemy mortar and artillery fire. He ordered all men to take cover, but one soldier, returning to his position, was caught in the barrage and fell wounded. Without hesitation, Sergeant Gregoire ran across the hazardous terrain and picking up the stricken man carried him to the comparative safety of the outpost and administered first aid. Sergeant Gregoire’s heroic action alleviated the suffering of his wounded comrade and reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
