Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 136 (February 19, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Curtis Green (ASN: RA-18297409), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company D, 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 27 November 1950, near Ipsok, Korea, Corporal Green’s unit was heavily engaged by a numerically superior hostile force. When the onrushing enemy attempted to destroy a friendly tank, he mounted the machine gun deck and directed a heavy volume of effective fire at the surrounding foe. Despite exposure to intense small arms, automatic weapons and mortar fire, he resolutely continued his mission until severely wounded. Corporal Green’s valorous actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
