Headquarters, 2d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 850 (December 12, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private George Levi Felkon (ASN: RA-25419382), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 30 September 1951 in the vicinity of Kung-dong, Korea. On this date Company A’s defensive position was attacked by a fanatically determined hostile force. Private Felkon, completely disregarding his personal safety, continually exposed himself to enemy observation and fire in order to effectively engage the enemy. Through his courage and daring, several enemy assaults on his sector of the line were repulsed. Private Felkon continued his courageous stand, inflicting numerous casualties upon the enemy, until he was fatally wounded by the enemy fire. His bravery and self-sacrificing spirit were directly responsible for the successful defense of his unit’s position against the repeated hostile attacks. The gallantry in action and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Private Felkon reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
