The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Master Sergeant Louis L. Falco (ASN: RA-12327732), United States Army, for heroic achievement on 21 December 1951 in the vicinity of Kumhwa, Korea. On this date a reconnaissance patrol of which Sergeant Falco was a member, encountered hostile fire from an enemy outpost. Deploying his men, he directed an advance upon the objective, using the protection of covering brush. Surprising the enemy, he inflicted several casualties upon them and ordered a quick withdrawal. In the midst of the withdrawal, Sergeant Falco realized the patrol leader was missing and immediately returned to the enemy positions. With complete disregard for his own safety he moved about through a hail of grenade and small arms fire, desperately searching for the missing officer, to no avail. Returning to the patrol, he assumed command, skillfully effecting the withdrawal and returning to friendly lines. The gallantry in action displayed by Sergeant Falco reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
