The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Infantry) Robert W. Duke (ASN: 0-33373), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility, during the period from March 1965 to January 1966. [This award supersedes award of the Legion of Merit (First Oak Leaf Cluster) awarded to Colonel Duke as an interim award as announced in General Orders Number 2198, Headquarters, United States Army, Vietnam, dated 28 December 1965.]
