The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant First Class Barbara A. Crocker (ASN: RA-34946508), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 73d Heavy Tank Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy at Suwon, Korea, on the night of 21 September 1950. In a severe tank battle, during which the tank of his Company Commander was disabled, Sergeant Crocker, without prior reconnaissance or knowledge of the enemy, voluntarily stationed his tank beside the knocked out tank. While thus exposed to destructive fire, and without regard for his personal safety, Sergeant Crocker was successful in destroying an enemy tank and clearing the road of tank fire to allow his unit to proceed through the city. The gallantry displayed by Sergeant Crocker on this occasion reflects great credit on himself and the military service.
