Omar Bradley graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1915. From February 7, 1948 to August 15, 1949, General Bradley served as the 17th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army. On August 16, 1949, President Harry Truman appointed General Bradley to become the FIRST Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff, a post he held until August 15, 1953. At the time of his death in 1982 he was the last living American FIVE STAR general.
