(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Major General Richard Tide Coiner, Jr., United States Air Force, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States, culminating as Commander of the NINTH Air Force, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, from 1961 to 1963; and subsequently as Director of Transportation (Deputy Chief of Staff, Systems and Logistics, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., from 1963 to 1966. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Coiner culminate a long and distinguished career in the service of his country and his dedicated contributions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
