Wade Cothran graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of November 1918. Captured after the fall of Bataan, he survived the infamous Death March, but later died on a Japanese “Hell Ship” en route to Japan.

    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Major (Field Artillery) Wade Rushton Cothran, Jr. (ASN: 0-890014), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Aide de Camp to Major General Edwin King, serving with Headquarters Company, Luzon Force, in action against the enemy in the defense of Luzon, the Philippine Islands, in 1942. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major Cothran, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
