The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Staff Sergeant Ricky J. Jeffers, United States Army, for valor from 29 March to 4 April 2003 while serving as a Bradley Commander during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM in As Samawah, Iraq. Staff Sergeant Jeffers exposed himself to enemy small arms, Rocket Propelled Grenade, and indirect fire on numerous occasions to prevent the flanking of friendly elements, allow the maneuver of multiple units and assist in the clearing of multiple buildings. Staff Sergeant Jeffers’ valorous acts reflect great credit upon himself, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, the 82d Airborne Division and the United States Army.
