Bulla (ASN: 0-2005945), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3d Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 24 October 1950, near Chung Bolgok, Korea, Lieutenant Bulla’s convoy was attacked by a strong hostile force. Although exposed to hand grenades and automatic weapons fire, he dismounted from theirthe lead jeep to direct a steady stream of effective fire at the enemy while his men displaced to cover. After a sharp engagement with the attacking enemy, he reorganized his dispersed men, supervised the reloading of the convoy and led it through intense hostile fire to safety.
