The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Staff Sergeant Michael G. Hygh, United States Army, for exceptionally valorous achievement for providing medical assistance to injured soldiers while under fire from enemy forces during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Staff Sergeant Hygh, disregarding his own personal safety administered life saving first aid to three coalition soldiers during combat operations. His selfless service, situational awareness, and professionalism reflect distinct credit on him, the 4th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
