The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Harry T. Pearce (AFSN: 0-3132470), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Forward Air Controller in Southeast Asia on 20 January 1968. On that date, Captain Pearce made several passes on an armed aggressor force in his unarmed aircraft drawing intense hostile fire, thus diverting their attention away from the besieged friendly unit. Captain Pearce subsequently directed airpower on the target area. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Pearce reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
