(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain Edward A. Burke, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while commanding a Tank Destroyer unit during the assault across the Roer River in Germany during World War II. Captain Burke advanced across open terrain, exposed to intense enemy fire, to locate an enemy self-propelled gun. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
