The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Edward T. Przyborowski (ASN: 36123240), United States Army, for gallantry in action on 17 and 20 September 1944, at *** and ***, Holland. On D-Day, immediately following the drop, Private First Class Przyborowski, Runner, Company E, 2d Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, helped to clean the Germans from ***. He showed unusual aggressiveness during the attack and was the first man across the road at the top of the hill. Under enemy fire, he moved from window to window of the enemy-held house and fired into each one and drove the Germans outside where other men could fire upon them. On 20 September he was on the ridge at ***, under extremely heavy artillery fire and constant harassment of snipers to the rear. He did a superb job as platoon runner, and set up and manned single-handedly a machine gun which protected the entire flank. This action prevented a flanking attack on the position. He also carried ammunition to the other machine guns which were under heavy artillery fire. By his gallant action, Private First Class Przyborowski was substantially responsible for the success of his unit. His initiative and perseverance was in keeping with the highest traditions of American parachutists.
