Sergeant Nigra of Regimental Headquarters Company, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, with utter disregard for personal safety, entered ***, which was reported as mined by retreating German forces, neutralized, and removed 2,000 pounds of high explosives, booby trapped to a pull-type firing device. His action saved the building from injury and prevented probable loss of life. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
