The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Frank Mosolovich (ASN: 15098856), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company F, 2d Battalion, 401st Glider Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, in action on 7 June 1944, near ****, France. While his company was in assault action with tanks, enemy fire disabled two of the tanks. Technical Sergeant Mosolovich was helping repair the tank tracks when fire opened from an enemy strongpoint in a house. Without a moment’s hesitation, he moved toward the house and through its fire a distance of 350 yards and reached it safely. He then boldly demanded the surrender of the occupants on the threat of grenading them. In fear of death, the Germans agreed to come out if he would place his weapons on the ground. Risking possible murder, he agreed and eight Germans walked out and surrendered. Technical Sergeant Mosolivich’s high courage and audacity resulted in the elimination of an enemy machine gun strongpoint and were in keeping with the brave traditions of the Airborne Forces of the United States Army.
