The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Robert A. Anglin (ASN: 6972808), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Troop C, 6th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron (Mechanized), III Corps, in action against the enemy on 11 January 1945. During an attack near *****, Luxembourg, Sergeant Anglin, section leader in the 2d platoon, displayed exceptional courage and determination. When his platoon was pinned down by constant enemy fire from two directions, Sergeant Anglin, with utter disregard for his own safety, boldly advanced alone. His conspicuous courage, gallantry and leadership so inspired his platoon that, despite the withering enemy fire, the advance was successfully resumed and the platoon’s objective was taken. Sergeant Anglin’s action reflects great credit upon himself and upholds the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
