The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Sergeant Major Robert L. Ampula, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States in various positions of great responsibility during the period 1 April 1995 to 31 March 2005, culminating as the Army Medical Detachment Regimental Adjutant, United States Army Medical Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was solely responsible for the worldwide promotion of the Army Medical Department Regiment by establishing a website for all to use. He flawlessly managed the Regimental Recognition Programs of the Army Medical Department to include: Distinguished Member of the Regiment, Honorary Member of the Regiment and Friend of the Regiment. Sergeant Major Ampula’s exemplary performance of duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflects great credit on him, the United States Army Medical Command, the Army Medical Department, and the United States Army.
