Joe Campa enlisted in the Navy in 1980. He is a distinguished honor graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and also graduated from the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy in May 2003. In March 2006, prior to being appointed the eleven MCPON, he graduated from the Naval War College with a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.

His singularly distinctive accomplishments and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
